After six events Katarina Johnson-Thompson is fighting an uphill battle to get among the medals as she currently sits in fifth place in the heptathlon, with only one event remaining (800m hurdles at 8:40pm). Johnson Thompson was in a good position after her heroic performance last night, but Netherlands own Anouk Vetter’s incredible showing in the javelin has seemingly knocked Katarina out of medal contention barring something incredible.

Team GB’s Andrew Pozzi won his 110m hurdle heat in a dominating performance, and the semi-final tonight, now awaits.

“I knew I got out very well, and after that it was about getting over the barriers and not making any mistakes in the first round.”

“Ronald ran very well when I ran my PB in Paris, it’s a big loss for the competition but I’m ready for the tonight.” Speaking about rival and favourite Ronald Levy hitting a hurdle and not completing the race.

“I’ll need a little bit faster to get into the final, but I’m happy.”

Meanwhile Callum Hawkins put in an incredible effort to come fourth during the men’s Marathon, he equalled Team GB’s best-ever finish. After an incredible effort, the young brit is aiming for more

“I wanted to get a medal, but fourth is pretty good I guess.”

“I mean I don’t think it’s quite hit me yet how well I’ve done. Maybe in the future though I can win a medal, and that’s what I’ll be aiming for.” Hawkins said after his heroic effort, but proved that he is still hungry for more.

“That’s the way sport is though, its tantalizing. Hopefully I can push on in the next commonwealth games and Tokyo after that, and be among the medals. I just want to say thanks to the crowd too, they were incredible the last few km.” he said.
