Day three of the IAAF World Championships starts with the morning sessions which begin at 10:00am at London Stadium. After the drama and unexpectedness of night 2, which saw Usain Bolt finish third on the podium during his final ever 100m, we’re back for day three.
The women’s heptathlon resumes at 10:00, with the long jump the event. Katarina Johnson-Thompson of team GB will be hoping continue her impressive display following her fine run in the women’s 200m heat and move to fourth on the podium. After what seemed a disappointing high jump effort where she couldn’t get past 1.86 meters, Johnson-Thompson will now concentrate on the long jump this morning. Later on in the morning (11:45) she will compete in the javelin qualifying round of the Heptathlon.
Elsewhere the men’s 3000m steeplechase heats begin, with team GB trio Rob Mullet, Zak Seddon, and Leuan Thomas will be competing. Outside of the stadium, the men’s marathon (10:55am) starts, Josh Griffiths, Callum Hawkins and Andrew Davies will be competing for the gold.
The 400m women’s heats begin at 11:55, with another trio of Team GB athletes competing; Emily Diamond Zoey Clarke Anyika Onuora.
The women’s marathon is the final event of the morning sessions on day three, Alyson Dixon, Charlotte Purdue and Tracy Barlow, will look to get on the podium.
