Ahead of Remembrance Sunday next weekend, those in attendance at London Stadium paid their respects today ahead of West Ham United's Premier League fixture against Liverpool.
A stunning pre-match mosaic was created by the East Stand to honour those who lost their lives.
West Ham's joint-chairman David Gold, Liverpool CEO Peter Moore, Mayor of Newham Sir Robin Wales and West Ham fan Matt Woollard laid wreaths in the centre circle to rapturous applause. A respectful minute's silence was then held as the Last Post was played by a bugler.
The players walked out to a guard of honour formed by members of the Royal British Legion and servicemen from the G Company 7 RIFLES West Ham Army Reserve Centre.Â
Prior to this, the Royal Air Force Cadets Band performed before West Ham legend Sir Trevor Brooking read John McCrae's poem, In Flanders Fields
There were many poignant sights throughout the day to commemorate those, such as a WWII Spitfire plane on display outside the Stadium.
Elsewhere, around the perimeter of the ground, people could make donations to the Royal British Legion poppy sellers.
