West Ham United were held 1-1 at London Stadium as Javier Hernandez cancelled out Bournemouth's goal just one minute after Ryan Fraser put the visitors ahead against the run of play.
David Moyes named an unchanged side from the team that emphatically beat Huddersfield Town 4-1 at John Smith’s Stadium, with Manuel Lanzini and Marko Arnautovic leading the line. Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth also remained unchanged from the team that beat Arsenal last week.Â
Mark Noble led the teams out carrying Isla Caton, the three-year-old has been diagnosed with Neuroblastoma the same disease which tragically took Bradley Lowery’s life last year.Â
Ahead of kick-off both teams lined-up around the centre circle to commemorate the trailblazing former West Brom and England striker Cyrille Regis, who passed away earlier this week, with both sets of fans participating in a minutes applause at London Stadium.Â
The Hammers looked the brightest during the first-half with Arnautovic testing his former teammate Asmir Begovic but his effort was tipped over the bar, just before Noble had an effort which came close but never looked like testing the Bosnian goalkeeper.Â
West Ham limited the Cherries to one opportunity, Lewis Cook curled an effort just wide of Adrian’s post, who was a spectator for the majority of the first-half.Â
The second-half started off in a similar fashion to the first with the Hammers in the ascendancy and Bournemouth happy to soak up the pressure, Arnautovic looked to be through one-on-one, but the Austrian couldn’t get the ball out of his feet allowing Steve Cook to make a vital tackle.Â
Bournemouth looked happy to just sit back and invite pressure onto them, however, the Cherries took the lead through Fraser on 72 minutes, the Hammers responded a minute later, Arnautovic’s effort was blocked, but Chicharito was on hand to place it past a stranded Begovic, to level the score at 1-1.Â
West Ham face Crystal Palace in their next home game at London Stadium on Tuesday 30, January.
