The United States look on course to seal the platinum trophy at the inaugural Athletics World Cup, ending the first session on 109 points after night one at London Stadium.
With France and Poland, 85 and 77 points respectively, rounding out the top three, Great Britain currently occupy fifth. Captain Lorraine Ugen led from the front to win the long jump, while Holly Bradshaw claimed gold in the pole vault.
Sophie Hitchon, returning home to the stadium where she won hearts in the IAAF World Athletics Championships last summer, finished second in the Hammer, throwing 73.48m, while Meghan Beesley sealed second in the 400m hurdles - searing home in 55.90 seconds.
It was disappointment for Andrew Pozzi in the 110m hurdles though, colliding with hurdle three to crash out of the race.
Elliot Giles finished third in the 800m, while Anyika Onuora finished just outside the medal places in fourth in the 400m.
After last summer saw such relay joy at London Stadium for GB, it wasn’t to be in this session, the women finishing fifth in the 4x400m and the men finishing last in the 4x100m relays.
