LONDON STADIUM TO HOST TRIBUTE TO BOBBY MOORE

This weekend’s Premier League fixture between West Ham United and Burnley at London Stadium will mark the 25th anniversary of the passing of Bobby Moore OBE.

Widely lauded as the Hammers’ greatest player and captain, Moore passed away in 1993, aged 51.

A range of activity is scheduled in tribute to Moore, with four displays installed on the London Stadium concourse celebrating his achievements and history.

Supporters visiting London Stadium for the fixture are advised to take their seats early, as a few minutes before-kick off, members of the 1964 FA Cup and 1965 European Cup Winners’ Cup-winning teams captained by Moore – Ken Brown, Ronnie Boyce, Jack Burkett, Brian Dear and Eddie Bovington – will be welcomed pitchside for a pre-match ceremony.

After the two teams have taken to the pitch for the 3pm kickoff, they will line up around the centre circle while a floral tribute is laid on the centre spot.

A minute’s applause will then be held, during which supporters in the East Stand will be invited to create a mosaic in tribute to Moore.

In a further recognition of West Ham United’s heritage, flagbearers will display the 16 crests used by Thames Ironworks FC and West Ham United during the Club’s 123-year history pitchside on Saturday. In addition, these crests will be displayed in the stadium concourse.

A free exhibition of memorabilia relating to Moore’s life and career on the lower ground floor of the Stadium Store, where visitors can view shirts, medals and many more unique and historic items, will be open from 9am. The exhibition is also open from 9.30am-5pm on Thursday and Friday and 11am-5pm on Sunday.
