- London Stadium Clubhouse renovations coincide with 100 Days to Go until MLB World Tour: London Series on June 8-9
- 100 MLB branded taxis have taken to the streets of London to celebrate the return of baseball to the capital
Today marks 100 days until Major League Baseball (MLB) comes to London for the MLB World Tour: London Series. New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies are bringing the best of baseball back to London Stadium this summer as the National League East rivals go head-to-head. British fans will get the chance to see world class athletes like Pete Alonso and Bryce Harper in the historic ‘Battle of the Broads’ rivalry.
Ahead of the teams coming to London for the two-game series on June 8-9, London Stadium has begun preparations by renovating the famous ‘Clubhouses’ ready to welcome the Mets and Phillies for when they arrive on British soil. They have now been updated to be adorned with Mets and Phillies branding with the star names being given their spaces in the locker rooms. The state-of-the-art Clubhouses are now a permanent fixture on top of the 100m warm up track in the west stand featuring 50 individual player lockers, managers offices, break out areas, TV screens, and sofas.
As part of the 100 days to go celebrations, 100 London taxis have been branded with MLB World Tour: London Series insignia to spread the word around the UK capital. They were taken on a tour of the London landmarks taking in the sights at Tower Bridge, Big Ben, the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, and finishing at London Stadium.
The special MLB taxis parked up outside the front of the stadium, which is usually home to West Ham United, alongside updated signage announcing 100 Days to Go until the teams’ arrival in London. The pitch transformation will begin closer to the time and will involve an 18-day build and 400 ground staff from across the world to alter the stadium seating, erect dugouts and thousands of square feet of artificial turf.
