PREVIEW // MOYES FACES GOALKEEPING DILEMMA FOR CHELSEA CLASH

West Ham United return to London Stadium to renew their city rivalry against Chelsea on Saturday, in a televised lunchtime kickoff.

The Hammers come into the game off-the-back of a 2-1 loss to table-topping Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last weekend, however, David Moyes’ men put in a fine defensive performance and were only undone by a late David Silva winner.

Moyes has a selection headache as goalkeeper Adrian put in a man-of-the-match performance, which could cast doubt over England No.1 goalkeeper, Joe Hart’s, status in the starting line-up.

Moyes refused to be drawn on speculation over his goalkeeping selection, though early reports have tipped Adrian to start against Antonio Conte’s Blues.

“I wouldn’t give the team out, I don’t want to help Chelsea,” said Moyes.

“I’ve got the decision in my mind but I’ll wait until tomorrow to announce it.

“Having two players vying for World Cup spots is a good problem for West Ham, I’d like that situation in a few more positions.”

Declan Rice is one major doubt for tomorrow’s game after putting in a good performance last week, the young defender earned the praise of his manager, but could be sidelined through illness.

“I though he did really well last week,” said Moyes.

“I spoke to him about his concentration for the second goal, but I think for a young centre-half it’s even more difficult than being a young centre-forward, because of the level of strikers in the Premier League.

“Declan is the one looking like he could force his way into the first team, but he’s had flu all week so he’s a bit of a doubt.”

The Hammers’ last home game was a draw against Leicester City, thanks to a Cheikhou Kouyate equaliser in Moyes’ first home game in charge of the club.

West Ham’s top goalscorer this term, Javier Hernandez, may be back in contention to start after being sidelined with a thigh injury sustained while away on international duty.

“[The squad is] looking much better, a whole host of players are back. Javier Hernandez is back training,” added the West Ham manager.

Chelsea travel across the capital full of confidence after going seven games unbeaten in the Premier League, in comparison, West Ham last Premier League win came against Swansea City at the end of September.

They also qualified for the Champions League knockout-round after drawing against Atletico Madrid in the week.

Chelsea defender David Luiz will miss the game with a knee injury, while midfielder Danny Drinkwater is out due to illness.
