PREVIEW // HAMMERS TARGET TOP HALF WITH VICTORY OVER BOURNEMOUTH

West Ham United will return to Premier League action on Saturday, after beating Shrewsbury Town in their third round Emirates FA Cup replay during the week, the Hammers will host AFC Bournemouth and a win could take them as high as 9th in the table.

The two sides met on Boxing Day during a six-goal thriller. In-form forward Marko Arnautovic looked to have won the game 3-2 in the 89th minute, but for a 93rd minute equaliser by Cherries forward Callum Wilson which replays showed was ultimately wrongly awarded.

“Bournemouth have got a good attacking style and we've got some good attacking players too. The last game was a strange game and we felt we should have won it,” said West Ham manager David Moyes.

“Their final goal shouldn't have stood. It doesn't change the fact that we could have taken the three points, but the draw was possibly the fair result.

"I think all the managers in this half of the league know every game is difficult. At the moment we're on a good run and we want to keep that going.”

There has been growing transfer speculation this week regarding a possible move across London for Andy Carroll, however, a possible ankle injury may scupper the move and has ruled the striker out of contention for this weekend.

Cheikhou Kouyate and Javier Hernandez could return from injury, elsewhere, Diafro Sakho (knee), Michail Antonio (groin), Edimilson Fernandes and Jose Fonte (both ankle) are all out.

“Chicharito looks like he's recovered from flu and trained. Andre Ayew is feeling his leg so we will check on him, and Declan Rice was feeling his hamstring as well,” added Moyes.

"Kouyate is back and Winston Reid is not training yet.

"We only found out yesterday that Andy Carroll's got a problem. We need to see if it needs an operation or not."

Bournemouth will be without Joshua King and Junior Stanislas (both hamstring), while Jermain Defoe (ankle) and Tyron Mings (back) are also out.
