With the Athletics World Cup beginning on Saturday 14 July, we're taking an in-depth look at the British team to face seven competitive nations in the competition, as well as their opponents. Â
29 athletes have been announced to compete as part of the British team at the inaugural event with a mix of experienced medallists and debuting talents. 21 of the athletes were crowned British champions at the British Athletics Championships this month, showing good form in preparation for a bigger stage.
400m runners Rabah Yousif, Anyika Onoura and 100m sprinter Daryll Neita have pedigree in Olympic, World and European competition, their experience will be vital. Also, long jumper Lorraine Ugen, high jumper Morgan Lake and Sophie Hitchon in the pole vault were part of last year’s World Championships squad, so will be searching for success this time around.
At the other end of the scale, four make their senior British debuts; Beth Dobbin is the fastest Briton over 200m this summer, Jemma Rekkie is a European Junior gold medallist at 1500m, Noami Ogbeta is the European junior triple jump bronze medallist and then there's European u-23 100m champion, Ojie Edoburun.
An established trio of 110m hurdles world indoor champion Andrew Pozzi, Commonwealth champion Nick Miler and former world 400m hurdles champion Dai Greene round off an exciting British team.
Elsewhere, an acclaimed list of world and Olympic champions travel to London Stadium for two days of non-stop action.
Double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson headlines the Jamaican team in 100m and 4x100m relay, alongside former Olympic champion Shelley-Ann Fraser-Pryce, returning to the sport for the first time since the birth of her first child.
Poland boast world and Olympic champion Anita Wlodarczyk in the hammer throw, oh and she’s the world record holder too.
On the track, two-time European champion Adam Kszcot features in the 800m, he was victorious in the world indoor championships earlier this year in Birmingham.
As for France, Jimmy Vicaut is the joint-fastest European of all-time in the 100m, can he claim gold now a certain Jamaican icon has left the door open.
Whilst serial winner Renaud Lavillenie jumps in the pole vault, Pascol Martinot-Lagarde and Floria Guei will be scailaing hurdles at London Stadium.Â
